Launched: ConcertsTO.com

ConcertsTO is a new concert ticket listing website that makes it easy to find concert tickets for upcoming events in Toronto.

Instead of checking multiple retailers for events and/or tickets, you can get all the event information you really need with a single click.

While developing it over the weekend, I aimed to keep it as simple as possible because I was unimpressed by sites like eventful.com, jambase.com, and bandsintown.com. Although feature rich, they are either cumbersome to use, missing events, or make it difficult to get a quick glimpse of who’s playing in town.

New features that I’m toying with adding include:

  • Listing Massey Hall events Done.
  • Video/music playback so you can easily sample the artist (ie. Youtube integration)
  • Myspace integration of some sort

If you have any feedback or comments, I’d love to hear it.

Comments

If you can think of a way to separate each day without throwing off your clean aesthetic that would be nice. When I’m finished looking at one day, I often like to skip ahead two or three to the next evening I happen to have free, and it would be nice to do this without having to keep my eyes locked on the day number like I do on rotate.com.

Another (awfully minor) issue I’ve always had with Rotate’s list is a lack of day names. I like knowing where in the week certain days are without, frankly, having to think about it. I’d guess that adding MONDAY, TUESDAY WEDNE— etc. would be inelegant, but maybe colour-coding the weekend listings would be enough.

Also, maybe an RSS feed of new entries would be useful.

Awesome work, though. I’ll be using this regularly!

I like it. I agree that Day Names (or abbreviations) would help, as well as a small separator between days. It would be helpful to link to the venues, and a link to the band’s website.

Thought about the day of week indicator, just never got around to it. Day separator sounds useful.

Will add both if they can be done cleanly.

I’ve toyed with indicating new events and providing a RSS feed, but it would require a bit of a rewrite. Will keep it in mind.

Good stuff, nice clean and simple interface. I second the comments about including a day reference.

A link to the band myspace might be cool too, if that does not place too much burden. If this is a re-feed type page then that may not be applicable.

Days of the week – that would be great.

Hi Tariq,

Thanks for providing this awesome service. I can’t believe it never occurred to me to create a similar service. It’s right up my alley.

I wanted to echo the RSS suggestion. However, in addition to listing new events, it’d be amazing if it could detect events that changed too: i.e. dates, cancellations, new venue, etc.

Hey, I really like the site! But I just noticed that you took away the sort links at the top of the columns. I liked those!

Yeah sorry. Those had to go because I added the day of week grouping. I did eventually get around to adding a search/filter feature though.
